CALL FOR SUPPORT — LET’S PRINT BLUE MEMOIR : ISSUE II
Help me bring the second newspaper to life.
Since 2022, I’ve been working on Blue Memoir, a long-term photographic project exploring the relationship between people and water in Hungary. I’ve spent hundreds of days in the field, travelling across the country to understand our changing landscapes, our memories of water, its absence and abundance, and the people whose lives are shaped by it. Along the way, the project has also changed the way I see my own relationship with water.
In recent years, my focus has increasingly shifted towards the people who are trying to make a difference. Across Hungary, local communities are finding ways to retain water in the landscape and restore damaged ecosystems. Their work has become an important part of the story I want to tell.
Some of you may remember the first Blue Memoir newspaper, which I self-published in 2023 alongside my solo exhibition at East of Eden Gallery. We printed 5,000 copies, and almost the entire edition found its readers. I always hoped there would be a second issue.
Since then, with the support of the National Geographic Society. I’ve continued working on the project. At the end of November, I’ll present new work at the Robert Capa Contemporary Photography Center in Budapest, as part of a group exhibition. It feels like the right moment to bring these stories together in a new issue.
I’m hoping to raise €1,200 by November 16 to cover the printing and graphic design costs of Blue Memoir — Issue II, and I’d love your help making it happen. Every contribution counts, even the price of a gyros!
The newspaper will be free of charge, with 5,000 copies available at the Capa Center during the exhibition. My aim is to bring these stories beyond the gallery walls and make them accessible to as many people as possible.
If we exceed our target, all additional donations will be shared equally between two grassroots initiatives I’ve been documenting for years: the Sárrét Water Guardians and the Hosszúcsemői Tőzegláp.
