Crowdfunding ‘Flood Me, I’ll be Here’ — NEW PHOTOBOOK

After five years of photographing life on Majuli, I’m proud to finally share this work in the form of a photobook.
Flood Me, I’ll Be Here tells the story of Majuli, a river island in Assam, India—home to floodplain communities whose daily lives are shaped by floods, erosion, rituals, and resilience.
I didn’t arrive there to make a story—I went to understand one. What I found was a place where land disappears, but culture and care endure.
It has been humbling and inspiring to learn from the people of Majuli how to live with change, how to embrace nature’s rhythms, and how to cherish it even in the face of so-called crisis.
This book is a testament to that spirit. I wished to honour it through a form that gives the story space to breathe, where images and experiences are held with the care they deserve.
I’ve just launched a crowdfunding campaign to publish the book. It’s a way to make the work public and acknowledge everyone who helped shape it—on the island and beyond.
If this project speaks to you, I’d be deeply grateful for your support—or simply for helping to spread the word.
The book, designed in collaboration with Carmencita Editions, will be published by Carmencita Film Lab in July 2025. It will be launched at Les Rencontres de la Photographie in Arles, followed by an event at the Robert Capa Contemporary Photography Center in Budapest.
Thankfully,
Andras
